SNCF 2D2 9100 class with a passenger train, 1950s

No details.  A total 35 of this 1.5 kV DC overhead-powered class were built over 1950-1951 and lasted into the 1980s, final withdrawal being 1987. They circulated on the South-East network, especially on the Paris-Lyon-Marseille line.

They had a one-hour output capacity of 4,916 hp or 3 687 kW; the four traction motors drove the four powered axles with a Buchli transmission, enabling an operating speed limit of 140 km/h.

This was the last series of French electric locomotives with a rigid chassis and load-bearing axles; from then on they were bogie (truck) type.
